Why does Android Studio have so many silly bugs, unlike IDEA?

I have been using IDEA for years. In my knowledge, Android Studio is just
an extension to IDEA, if I am not wrong.
So why does it have so many silly bugs which I do not have using IDEA?
From day to day I see these silly bugs appearing.
Is the connection of AS and IDEA not as tight as I thought? If this is
true, then what did IntelliJ exactly give Google (if not IDEA's source
code)?
